Frequently Asked Questions
General
Think of me as your personal travel architect. I design custom journeys that fit you — your style, pace, and wish list. I research, plan, book, and manage every detail, so all you have to do is pack your bags and enjoy the adventure.
As your travel advisor, my goal is to make your trip as seamless as possible — before, during, and after your journey. You’ll have direct access to me via email, phone, and text throughout the planning process.
When you work with me, you work directly with me — no 1-800 numbers, no waiting on hold, and no bouncing between multiple reservations agents. I’m your single point of contact from the first idea to your welcome-home, ensuring everything feels personal, consistent, and easy.
While my fares always begin at the same rates the cruise or tour lines advertise, I often have access to added value like onboard credit or other extras. My compensation comes solely through commission from the travel suppliers once your trip is completed. Commission is built into the base fare — meaning you do not pay extra for reserving with an advisor, nor do you pay less for booking directly with the cruise or tour supplier. Occasionally, a planning fee may apply for customized research, independent air, or detailed itinerary design; I'll share this upfront, so you know exactly what to expect.
Beyond the cruise or land destination itself, I can also assist with travel insurance, pre- or post-stay arrangements, and tours beyond what the cruise line offers. Most importantly, my goal is to provide friendly service, quick communication, and timely attention to detail — something many of my clients highlight in their reviews.
I’d be happy to chat with you to share how I may best assist with your upcoming travel dreams— and if it feels like the right fit, perfect :)
When you work with me, you’re getting more than a booking — you’re getting a trusted advisor who helps you cut through the noise and choose from all the options that actually fit you.
I take time to understand your travel style, preferences, and priorities, then match you with experiences that balance value, comfort, and authenticity. Whether you’re dreaming of a small-ship sailing, a European rail journey, or a villa stay with family, I help you see the full picture — not just the lowest fare on a screen.
• Expert guidance from someone who travels often and knows the ins and outs of destinations, ships, and suppliers. And if I don’t have the answer, I know who to call — thanks to the face-to-face connections, colleagues, and partners I meet with throughout the year to stay current and connected.
• Access to exclusive perks and amenities through my partnerships and connections — and the added value of knowing these partners are vetted, trusted, and tested. Even when there isn’t an extra cost savings, there’s confidence in the quality, service, and reliability of the supplier you’re traveling with.
• Peace of mind knowing someone’s on your side — before, during, and after your trip.
Often times no extra fees, no endless searching — just personalized service, seamless planning, and travel that feels effortless.
Because I do more that just list an itinerary and take your credit card. My value isn’t in being the cheapest — it’s in creating travel that’s right for you.
When you work with me, you’re not just getting a reservation; you’re getting my expertise, personal attention, and advocacy that online sites simply can’t match. Try calling 800-cheap-trvl and see if you can talk to the same person twice. I take time to understand your travel style, preferences, and priorities, then curate the best combination of value, inclusions, and experience — not just the lowest price tag. I am with you from our first conversation until you return home. I ensure all trip components are reserved, that you know what to expect and I am here for every question. I take care of all the behind-the-scenes details of researching, reserving, coordinating, making phone calls, emails and planning.
I’ll show you competitive options and help you compare what’s included — things like cabin location, cancellation terms, onboard credit, and more. Those small details can make a big difference once you’re traveling.
My goal is to make your vacation seamless, special, and stress-free — not just the least expensive.
Most of the time my services are included in the fares listed for your itinerary. For customized or complex itineraries (think multi-country land journeys, cruises with pre/post stays, or small-group travel), a professional planning fee may apply. This covers my research, time, and access to vetted partners — ensuring your itinerary is built with care, accuracy, and insider value.
You’ll know upfront if a planning fee applies.
If you’re requesting assistance with flights that are not part of a tour or cruise reservation, a separate planning fee applies. I’ll share this in advance, along with options, so you can decide how you’d like to proceed. When flights are coordinated through a tour or cruise supplier as part of your overall trip, that service is typically included at no extra cost.
Yes! While I love the sea (and a good sail-away champagne toast), my work goes beyond the cruise. I also curate pre- and post-cruise extensions, custom land tours, rail journeys, villas, and hosted group adventures around the world.
The earlier you reserve, the more options — and often, greater cost savings. Early planning allows access to the best cabin selections, flight schedules, and promotional offers before they sell out or increase in price.
For ocean cruises and international travel, I recommend starting 9–18 months in advance.
For river cruises and small group tours plan 1–2 years ahead.
Expedition voyages and special itineraries (like Africa or an eclipse tour!) often require 1 1/2 -2+ years of advance planning.
If you’re more spontaneous — don’t worry! I’ll still help you find the best available options and create something wonderful, even on a shorter timeline.
Absolutely. I’ll guide you on insurance coverage options, required entry documents, and key resources. Ultimately, it’s each traveler’s responsibility to meet entry requirements. Requirements change quickly and are subject to change without notice and you must check and recheck the up-to-date prerequisites regularly in advance of your departure.
